"Ask and it shall be given" - Matthew 7:7 |
I was going to title this post "Paul rocks!!" but then this verse popped into my head - how apt indeed!
You must be thinking, "Who is Paul??" Nope, he's not the famous Paul of the Bible of course, since it was Jesus Himself who said "Ask and it will be given to you..." He's actually the Distance Education (DE) Coordinator for COM1020. He's the go-to guy for clarifications and answers, especially on the forum, though sometimes he doesn't respond, for whatever reasons only known to himself. I suspect sometimes they don't respond because they don't want to spoonfeed us too much.
I've been having trouble downloading the lecture notes for chapters 8 and 9 for a while, and my friend has the same problem too. So I emailed Sue Yell, who supposedly maintains the lecture notes page. To my surprise, Paul replied instead. I guess she forwarded the email to him. He said the notes were in Powerpoint (ppt) form, and that he would look into converting them into PDF (Adobe Reader) form later that week. I told him that I can't download slides when they are in ppt. Not that I don't have Powerpoint but in the past when I tried to download notes in ppt (for PSY1022) I couldn't. Was pleasantly surprised this morning to see that he'd replied yet again. At first I thought he said that he'd uploaded the notes in PDF onto the site, but realised after that he had actually attached the converted notes to the email. I thought that was really nice of him!
I do wonder what he looks like really. I imagine him to be this grandfather type. Haha. I also wonder what the other lecturers whose name appear look like.
Yesterday Raji, who is studying medicine in Ireland now, emailed us videos of cadavers from her lab class!! They look like wax models, and not as disgusting as I thought they'd be. I once saw an episode of Nip/Tuck which involved cadavers too, and they look exactly the same. Raji says they look like this because they've been preserved. For the morbidly curious and non-screamish, here's a picture of one that's been cut in half and another that she and her friends have named Betty! Betty died at 79 of pneumonia. Haha. I print-screened them from the video, so the pictures are blurry and small. They're face shots, though the actual vids also show their bodies, or rather whatever's been left of their bodies... |
