I had initially wanted to blog about how nice and quiet it is to be up at this hour, and how cool it is as it's starts raining at around 4 am everyday these past week (I've been sleeping 'early'). I had wanted to talk about how I liked this time because it was so peaceful. Then it dawned upon me: Peace isn't a time. It's a place. It's not the external, the observable, the measurable; it's the internal, the unseen, the intangible. It's what you have in faith.
Although - it's certainly easier at such times, when there's nobody to bother you, nothing fighting for your time and attention other than that which you choose to attend to. We talk about world peace as though it is the absence of war and conflict. Seriously, is that really what it is? Just like courage is not the absence of fear, but the conquering of it; I believe that one can never know peace unless there is no conflict. Like you wouldn't know pleasure without pain, joy without sadness. You wouldn't know what good was if you haven't seen the bad. I think people are fighting the wrong battles sometimes - because they don't know the truth.
This is my truth, the truth that steadies my heart in all its trembling: Knowing that I am justified, righteous and holy, no matter what I do (or do not). That all my sins were indeed paid for at the cross. That I am loved every moment of every day, whether I feel it or not, whether I care for it or not (sometimes I don't). That there is a solid Rock I can lean on, no matter how wavering and full of doubt I am (you won't believe how). That I am more blessed and more loved than I can ever imagine (this comforts me immensely for some reason).

Hi! This post is nice and introspective :)
I agree with you that there must be bad before you can know and appreciate the good...but sometimes, i would rather not know the good because the bad is worse than the benefits of the good LOL.
World affairs are fascinating. I'm sure you know quite a lot about them, cos you love GP and all that. Recently i did a module on international affairs, and...wow. Political science is fascinating. I will never be able to see people who talk about world affairs the same way again!
