tour around the city :) |
Ok, enough of Chinese. :P Yesterday, I had a really enjoyable time 'touring' around Singapore with Sheena. Had PR class in the morning, which was really messed up due to admin errors, but then is that news anymore? Shan't go into details, because despite all that I rather enjoyed myself.
'Nyways, we met at Chinatown to eat, but after an unsatisfactory and expensive plate of chai tao kuey (carrot cake), we decided to have dessert at the TCC at Funan. So it was hello to City Hall again. It's kind of become my second home now that church is at Suntec! :D
We had the chocolate fudge cake, which went down very well indeed. After that, I finally got the webcam which I've been thinking of buying for ages! But I think I'm only gonna let one person see...hehe I think you know who you are. *muacks*
After that, we decided to take bus 80 on a spur of the moment and just see where it took us. We eventually landed up at Vivo City, where we handed straight for Candy Empire and bought some delicious chocs. I got my toothbrush and handwash as well - must be "crean and gleen", as a Mrs Neo of Crescent Girls' School used to say. Spent some time inside Giant as well marvelling at their vast array of products.
We then hopped onto bus 10, which goes back to Tampines. It took more than one hour, but it was really fun seeing some sides (and sights) of Singapore we don't often see; at one point the buildings looked like those in Italy. There're some areas of Singapore that look like Malaysia as well. Everything seemed so fresh and new. It started raining very suddenly when we stopped at a certain traffic light, and we amused ourselves looking at the dry spots underneath the cars.
I had this strange feeling of being in a foreign country after we finally got down at the Tampines interchange. Maybe it's because I do this all the time when I'm overseas; I've always enjoyed observing the people and buildings of the country, be it Thailand or New Zealand. Things like mailboxes, lamp posts, cars, etc. They are like the same but not the same. To me, it's these ordinary things that locals take for granted that exude the flavour of every country. And yesterday I was like a tourist in my own country, observing all the different types of houses and lamp posts in Singapore. You'll be surprised, not all the lamp posts in Singapore are the same!
Oh, and the buses we took went past both our parents' shops...I didn't get to see my parents cos' the bus was going really fast, but we did see Sheena's mom from the bus! (She didn't see us though.) Haha! I thought that was really interesting, seeing someone you know from a bus. Like being a voyeur, or a stalker. Teehee~ |
