When we finally arrived at Awana Resorts, we were behind schedule but that didn't seem to matter. This was, afterall, a retreat; for us to relax and enjoy ourselves. We stuffed ourselves silly with the buffet lunch. The beef was too hard. That was basically our 'feeding pattern' for the rest of our stay: stuffing ourselves silly during mealtimes; and the beef was always too hard.
There was this sign at the foyer that said, "WELCOMES RIVER OF LIVING WATER". Well, we’re actually River of Living Waters Church. But it’s good enough, considering that we were in a very Muslim part of Malaysia (according to BB). =)
After that we played the games to find our roommates and teammates and had free time until the evening service.
I saw my very first sea urchin. As in, not just on a nature documentary, but real. Too far away for me to touch, though. There were 2 of them on the rocks, very black and very spiny. I wonder what sea urchin tastes like. =D
Went swimming in the pool with PT, Hannie, Jo and her roommates. Me and PT went into a pool in t-shirt and shorts as we didn’t have swimsuits - I lent her my secondary school PE shorts, so we were wearing the same shorts. It was not allowed, as stated on this signboard at the pool, but heck, what’s being young for? Nobody bothered either, not even the staff. At some point in time Uncle/Brother Larry (affectionately known as Papa Larry) came down with some of the kids too. After a while, so did Tommy, in dressed in a splendid pair of swimming trunks. He was learning how to swim from Papa Larry. (I shan’t be mean here. =P)
Splashing around in the pool was fun. =) |
