I am Joan of Arc.
Born in France in around 1412 to a peasant family,
Joan of Arc watched her countrymen suffer
horribly at the hands of invading English in
the Hundred Years War. In her childhood she
talked of hearing the voices of the saints, and
was a devout Catholic. When she was 17, she
approached the French daucon for an army to
lead France to victory against the English,
claiming she was acting on behalf of God. She
managed to turn the tides of battle, leading
the French to victory after victory against the
English and driving the English to the brink of
defeat. At the age of 19, the English captured
her and accused her of witchcraft. She was
burned at the stake as a witch in 1431.
According to legend, her heart remained
untouched by the flames.
